Lauren Mackenzie –
The Moonlight Gardening Club was a great read, full of complex and intriguing characters in a skilfully rendered world both specific – a coastal, holiday town, and universal – a community of people seeking comfort and support in each other. The story is elegantly paced, the characters are both funny and achingly vulnerable in their troubles. You root for them to find comfort. The resolution is beautifully measured and like life, there’s no tidy ending. It reflects the themes, and the night garden itself – the dark enhances the light. Loved this book. And would eagerly buy a sequel. I want to know what happens next! Hard to believe this is a debut. Rosie Hannigan is one to watch!

This story while it was a slow start took a quick turn of excitement. I enjoyed the characters personalities as well as an intricate story line.

This was my first time reading a book by this author, & I really enjoyed it. I loved the setting,, & characters. Her style of writing brought them to life. Its a heartwarming cozy read:)
Noveldig –
I really liked this book. 4.5 It was a story about two women who both had been betrayed by someone they loved and about the power of friendship and trust in healing broken spirits. All of this drama is set in the backdrop of a small Irish town and its healing garden. It’s lovely story and well written.
I’ll be reading more by Hannigan again.

An ok story if not a bit slow of the power of good friends .found the characters a bit dull.

The book is definitely Sugar Coated, but beautifully written. The whole theme of the story is where there is love and friendship there is hope

Good setting descriptions. The main characters start out angry and full of woe, which made it hard to root for them. I don’t care for authors using the device of having people meet and having an angry exchange at first sight. Toward the end, everything became rushed. Characters have angry words and suddenly it’s resolved with no explanation. One woman can’t heal without a man to show her she has worth. Would’ve preferred she come to her own self-realization with new friends, men, women, and children alike. Good premise for a story, but uneven in its storytelling.

Likeable and believable characters and plenty of unexpected plot twists! This book gets better with every chapter! I heartily recommend.

I just couldn’t put this book down. It’s one of the best books I’ve read in a while. If I could have given it 10 stars, I would have!
I do like reading Irish fiction, especially books set in small Irish villages about families and women who are trying to overcome hardship and grief. The book is uplifting and made me cry and smile in equal measure.
This book is set in the small coastal village of Castletown Cove; Ruby grew up here, but she’s returning as a 50-something lady who is widowed, to the holiday home her wealthy husband bought and renovated. She’s moved back to make a life for herself, but in doing so, she finds so much more. There are twists and turns, which make the book even better.
My only regret is that the book ended too soon, I wonder if there’s a sequel to be had? There are some big characters in this book, maybe a book about one of them? I’ve already downloaded the other books this talented writer has written, and I’ll be on the lookout for anything else she writes.
If you like uplifting Irish fiction featuring strong female characters, then this is definitely a book for you to read.

Only 4 stars due to it being a gift, so I haven’t read it myself. The synopsis looks good and so are the previous reviews.
